    Default Repairing Sunroofs ( Z20 Soarer )

Has anyone had any experience with repairing electric sunroofs in a Soarer or a Toyota for that matters ??

Mine would only close/slide on one side and i had to always pull the opposite side to shut the thing and it wouldnt do the final lift to be flush with the roof.

Now something more has broken ? Where to start ? Pull roof-lining ?

When my sister's was playing up it wasn't quite the same symptoms but we had it checked by a sunroof specialist who found nothing, but i gave the runners a good clean out and cleaned up the contacts and that fixed it. Hers sometimes wouldn't work, or wouldn't stop closed (would go straight past into tilt and back again), so we thought it was electrical.

Perhaps like hers, yours has collected dirt/grit/crap from being parked outside and it's interfering with the contacts? That's about the only thing i can think of to suggest before taking it to an aftermarket place perhaps? Or doing it yourself, but i was a bit hesistant to go pulling roof liner etc to get to it.

There are two plastic pivot things that snap, they kick the arse of the glass up when it closes. I took mine apart and put it back together but have been too lazy to do anything about it lately.
You don't need to remove the roof lining to acess it. I found this out after I pulled the roof lining.

mine needed new tyres on the little wheels on each runner - it wouldn't open/close without help and would drag on the roof at one point. couple of o-rings on each wheel did the trick and it's been working fine for over 18 months. (jza70 supra)
