Default GZE and GE clutch/flywheel interchangability

Just looking at light flywheels and new clutches for my MR2, and I was wondering if the smaller, NA flywheels/clutch/pressureplate were a direct replacement on the E51 box/GZE engine. Just that they are a lot easier to get, and cheaper.

    Cheers, RM.

Edit: Oh, and does a 20V intake manifold and quads bolt up to a GZE (with the TPS)?

All 4ag flywheels are interchangeable with each other seeing as they have the same 8 bolt pattern. I'm not too sure if this applies to non-LSD boxes but you'll need a bigger spline input on the clutch disk to suit the driveshafts. They're pretty easy to get though... the Hiaces have the larger spine (28.5mm) with a 200/212mm clutch disk (depending on which flywheel you get).

Call up Exedy direct with your specs and get them to give you part no. for it. Then any stockist can get them in for you. Any 4ag pressure plate suited to the flywheel will work.

mullet, Exedy do a clutch kit for the 4agze which is just as easy to get as a 4age one. paying the little extra is worth it over going to a smaller diameter clutch.

Yeah, I've got a price coming tomorrow for that, but lightweight flywheels are pricey...

All of the 4A flywheels will bolt to all the other 4As provided they have an 8bolt crank. However, fitting them inside the E51 is another matter. Im pretty sure that all will fit, however, you may have issues with the 200 and 212mm flywheels and finding a friction plate which has the right splines for the E-series box.
The 225mm flywheels are a direct bolt up, and actually have a lot more friction material, and are highly preferable.

As for the quads, you have no hope. You need a new manifold to use the quad throttles, and even then if you are going GZE you will have issues with the bottom of the manifold hitting the top of the supercharger.

Sorry, I should have clarified that, it will be used with a turbo, no more supercharger...I was going to use the quads and the 20v manifold if they bolt up...

20valve manifold will not bolt up without a fair bit of workl.

okie dokie, time for some googling!

    RM.

*googly* Seems like they don't have too much trouble bolting up, and the AFM should still read regardless of what's going on with the throttles. Or would it be easier and better just to bolt the 20V head onto the GZE and be done with it?

the ports are different shapes, some sort of adaptor plate would be needed if you were to use the 16v head.

Ah. That fixes that...20v head it is then I guess. I want to turbo the facco motor while I build the 7A, and I need an intake manifold to do that. Since I'm getting a full 20v head setup, it just seemed easier...
