Mongoose M40 - have one in my daily, installed it myself but was working as an installer at the time so it was "professionally" installed.
Nice and easy to use/install, haven't had any problems with it yet.
The above opinion is just that - my opinion. It is not shared by any business that I am currently or have previously been involved with, nor any of their employee's.
I run a brant unit good unit but no idea on cost sorry
Edit: unit costs $698

The Jaycar alarms themselves are a little chunky, and their remotes are a little flimsy, they're approved alarms, there is no reason you couldn't fit one of them again.

rhyno alarms do a 3 point immobiler with black wiring.
they are insurance approved.
if installing for the first time it will be a headache because every wire is black and are only labelled on the end of the wire.
ive fitted quite a few now, so its easier as the more you do.
the model is called RES4601
or i think it changed to the JAG
either way it is one of the two.
from memory the rrp was $500 fitted but the alarm went up and that is allowing fark all time to wire it up. So if you get it done that cheap either the person is doing for little profit or its getting thrown in like a strathfield car radio worker done it.and that is dodgey.
i know coz ive seen it time after time.
good luck

Hi,
Mongoose M80 is commonly used and is a 3 point approved and recognised unit.
Cheers![]()

I've seen more than a few aftermarket installs of alarms and stereo gear - and every one was at a superior level of crapulousness.
Buy a Jaycar unit, do it yourself and photoshop up a certificate that looks like its from a Strathfield-like store installer.
How do you show the certificate to the insurance provider? You can organise JustCars comprehensive over the phone?
yeah i put an M80 (i think) came with the microwave sensor and some kind of speaker sensors (its a 5start alarm) cost me about 300-400 when i got it and dale and myself installed it didnt take long

If paying for an install, look at dismantalling the dash as much as you can yourself. The less time they have to spend on the easier stuff, the more time they can spend hiding stuff properly.

Look on ebay for mongoose alarms, they are pretty cheap. M80G, which is a three point immobiliser and some other sensors was $180? approx.
Cheers
Go the M80.
When installing it, put the control box somewhere thats impossible to get to without ripping the dash apart.
If you can get to the box easily when its installed, the immobiliser will be useless.

Not only can you get the insurance approved alarm from Jaycar (Shadow alarm)... but you can also get microwave sensor, power window winders, and other stuff.
For the price, its hard to beat Jaycar.
What insurance company is this that requires a certificate?
...... butt scratcher?!
BTW any that require a certificate will also probably require that its installed by a licensed installer.

ok ended up going with the shadow, its now 99% installed.
However the immob circuit 1 and 2 don’t seem to work
the aux 3 one with a relay in line works perfectly , but the other two ( from what i understand of the simple wiring diagram are switched inside the unit ? ie dont need a external relay ?
they are they are a constant open circuit with the alarm armed or disarmed and i am a bit miffed as everything else has worked very well .
