    Volvos are indestructible, trust me...

But not sure on stud patern, from memory they are a 5 stud but would have to confirm that!

LSDs are also plentiful for the ovlov And i dont think you can say 'i'd like to keep it toyota' Mr. RB25 driveline!

The Volvo diff that people use is apparently really a Dana 30 diff and they are 4x114.3 std pattern.

volvo diff factory is 5 stud, 5x108 (same as some old holdens)...easy for siff shop to convert tho.

they are a good diff, cheap, plenty around, and did i mention cheap? around $100-$150 from caliper to caliper from most wreckers.

i rest my volvo campain your honor

they use the same diff centre known as the DANA 30... which is used the the front of jeeps,

they will uses knuckles on the end for steering,....the front diff from the jeep will be totally useless to you. (for a rwd conversion anyway)

But is there enough meat to re-stud the flange to 4x114.3 or does that involve ugly business like welding existing holes shut?

If you are running 70mm of spacers, you may be better to grab an F series from an MS112 Toyota Crown which is 1450ish mm wide. 5x114 stud pattern though so may need restudding or just run Skyline/Falcon etc wheels on the rear.

Just found it does - no matter how you turn them, there's always overlap between the two patterns somewhere. Needs at least one hole welded shut, depending how many non stud carrying holes a factory 240 flange has.

I think it's not gonna be easy to find a diff shop capable of that here, but I'm gonna try anyway

I will be going this route. Just picked one up for cheap and have a line on another one. Might break the cheap one for spares as it's missing one of the wheel studs anyway (someone beat me to it at the wreckers apparently, only all he needed was a single stud...) and has a seized caliper as well.

I may even leave it 5 stud as I found out front struts from a different Volvo might just work. They come with plenty of large vented front disc brake options, too. The master cylinder needs a small spacer to work on a Toyota 2-stud brake booster but obviously a Toyota, Pajero or whatever cylinder could be used instead.

5x108 in any offset is only slightly easier to locally find wheels for (that suit a classic Toyota) than 4x114 RWD offset. But at least the diff and brake issues are sorted then.
