Great work they're killer motors. Don't forget to move the steering across to the other side.
Hello people
I posted some pics on another forum and a member from here contacted me and asked me if I wouldnt sign up on here and tell a little about the swap we are doing.
I built myself a LS2 powered FD3S RX7 after I had many other japanese sportscars like MR2 Turbo, JZA80 Turbo, Skyline GTR and so on to combine the brute american power with the excellent FD chassis. A customer saw my car and asked me if I could do the same with his 89 Toyota Supra Turbo and after some meassuring we started with the project.
The car is a 89 Toyota Supra Turbo with around 110k miles on it.
Car is in pretty good condition for its age an mileage and just got a new engine three years ago but that just wasnt enought power for the guy anymore.
So off we started by gutting the car.
Removing the full front assembly to remove everything not needed and clean the suspension parts.
And here it is freshly cleaned rear for the new parts.
Our new fuel system. JZA80 pump, aeromotive regulator, AN6 lines and Fittings
New power steering cooler with AN6 lines that will be connected with braided hoses as well.
And here it is what makes this car special.
Brand new TKO600 transmission and uprated 550HP LS3 engine with all needed parts.
I will update this thread on the weekend when we do the first testfit of the real engine.
Great work they're killer motors. Don't forget to move the steering across to the other side.
As we are in germany we will keep it on this side
Any MK3 experts on here? The only thing that gives me some headaches currently is the ABS system. Its a three channel system with one sensor on each front wheel and one on the transmission for a rear signal.
The problem is we dont have the gearbox anymore as we will be using a new one. The supra uses a mechanical speedo that we are converting to electric drive through a servo driven box behind it so we can use the digital output of the TKO600. Does anybody know of a device that will convert our TKO signals to the toyota ones so we can emulate the rear sensor?

Does the Mk3 use a mechanical speedo? I would've thought at least one model in its range had made the switch to electric.

Yes its a mechanical drive to the speedo. The RPM signal isnt a problem we can alter the output right from the new ECU.
I reckon Mos or Cruzida will be able to help you with that query
That would be really nice because the wiring infos Ive found yet are not really helpfull.

+1 subscribing 'for skidz'
Dont just subscribe give me critics and stuff
On another board I nearly got killed for my LSx RX7 swap.
we arent rotary fagorts here...
they actually believe it is the best motor ever invented...
where here we know the 2J is the best motor even conceived but a 6.something litre V8 made of aluminium cans is also a good option..
now hurry up
we want skids pics/vids

The MA70 just uses a hall effect sensor to pick up the rear driveshaft teeth.
The autobox uses a 32 tooth wheel that is at the rear of the box.
The W58 uses the reverse gear as the toothed wheel (it has 39 teeth)
I'm not sure what the R154 uses, but judging by the location of the sensor (rear left of the box) it looks like a separate wheel that is installed purely for the ABS sensor.
I'm sure you'll be able to fab something to go along with the TKO.
The 3 wires for the sensor come directly from the ABS ecu (RR+, RR- and PSEN from memory), so it doens't need external power or earthing.

MZ20 soarers are electric speedo drive, finding one in germany may be a bit hard, but someone on here may have a dash they could pull apart and take photos of.
Yep, ABS is seperate sensor on gearbox, also electric sender on Soarers.
Just incase you need some more insight into the car, the link below is the service and repair manual.

Look forward to seeing it done, would love to do something like this!

what sort of engine management are you going to use to run the LS3?
This was something I wanted to do, but I was looking to run the LS2...
How much head room do you look to have from bonnet to top of motor?
