    Default MS1123 Chassis plans

Hi Folks, Does anyone have any chassis plans for a Toyota Crown MS123.
I'd like to see what the rear end IRS setup looks like without taking the body off the chassis.
I've searched the web for 2 hours but can't find anything.
I'm hoping to use the rear end chassis and differential in a rod I'm building.
I already have a complete MS123, I'm going to rebuild the engine and auto for a 1975 Crown
and if the chassis isn't suitable I'll dump the rest after taking off all the other parts
    required for the engine swap.

Surer do the dash is intact, I'll need the complete wiring loom though and everything that makes the 5mge work.
I'd love you to post the plans so others can use them to and you can have whatever is required for free.

The rear suspension is very similar to the MA61 Supra, RA65 Celica and RT142 Corona so you might have more luck if you search for those.

I should mention the MS123 has a shitty semi trailing arm setup which isn't all that desirable. If you want IRS for your rod there are better options out there.

I'd expect it to be fairly similar to the MX73/MZ10/MA61 rear subframe.

This is just a guess though.

Hi Pee Wee, No the MS123 is different and Norbie there will be no other suspension setup purchases. I'm a Crown enthusiasts so using the Crown setup is my only interest, this weekend I'll cut through the body and the chassis just behind the front seats and remove the mounting bolts so to have a proper look at the chassis.

Sorry my message read there will be no other suspension setup purchases.
5mge horsepower - 165 and these Toyota differentials are capable of lots more.
    253 Holden horsepower - 185

253 Holden engine for our rod and no other engines as we already have it all setup.

yeah no worries then, the F series will put up with that.

I thought if you were going big block or some thing you might of prefered the G series.

Hi Stitt, After selling our first rod project to someone with more money than brains we now have a much better Street Rod project and since I can't stand wastage I'll use the left over parts from a MS123 Crown that was found to be worse off than originally thought and a 1979 Crown that I retired after doing 365,000 klms.

Still a great vehicle but the head needed work and it was just tied, after the floods and with work study commitments I've been flat out and nothing much had been done on the Crowns but I started working on the rod again as my studies have finished for this year.

OwensBullTerrier was us but we quite Classicrown as the help recently has been very slow coming but a year ago the help was outstanding and it was great forum site.

When I had the front end mounted in the rod the chassis builder asked if I'd be interested in going the IRS setup but at that stage I said no and was going to use leaf springs.
I've now decided we will go the IRS setup just to be different and so to use the Crowns parts, the ms123 setup should fit the Buicks chassis well, I'm going to separate the ms123's body from the chassis next weekend and then have the Buicks chassis and the Crowns rear chassis welded together and that will do us until the 5mge 1975 Crown is finished.

    Regards
    Owen

I have never said I had any plans, I don't have them never have, I think you will be hard pressed to find some. Best bet is to go to toyota and ask them if they have any.

No need now Stitt although its 38 degrees here today, I started at 4.30am and have cut up the body. These Crowns where never meant to come apart easily, I've removed the fuel tank and accessories for the engine swap and have separated the chassis for mounting to our rods chassis. The MS123 chassis is narrower than the Buicks chassis so it will now be a stepped chassis setup which will allow us to use up to 10'' tyres in Qld.
I'll take some pics soon and post them for others to see, when its cooler I'll remove the complete rear suspension floor hump and inner guards so this can be mated into our Buicks coupe body latter.
