    Default 18rc - Pluggered

    Hey guys

Got right into my car now - its a POS Aisan 18-rc carb im talking about

Trying to get the vacuum operated secondry throat working..... i pulled the diaphragm off .... and had a look in the passage for the vacuum to get to the diaphragm ..... and someone has inserted a brass blanking plug where the passage is??? is the plug there for a reason? why would someone disable the secondry throat in such a profound way and not connect it back up some other way other than vacuum? and..... can i remove it?

I got a second carb from a wreckers..... and it doesnt have a blanking plug?

    replys appreciated

    thanks

Well quite obviously the thing must be somewhat of a weapon

Why else would someone have taken the time to disable the secondaries if not to protect some young clueless looking teenager from himself?!!!

    hey..Don't get funny with me.

It is a weapon! ... Imagine if that carb fell from a cupboard... I mean it could really hurt someone...

"Some young clueless looking teenager" hey hey..... hey settle down! - Don't want to wake up tomorrow with an 18rc carb through your front window do you?

If they wanted to protect 'some young clueless looking teenager' they would have removed the wheels, the fuel tank (would improve fuel economy however... hmm ) and the stereo

Oh - and because you said 'looking' ... i'm going to change my picture now... .... look what you did....

but really..... I don't get it?

(Couldn’t be bothered to change the pic and that was me 15 years ago... who's calling who a teenager! ) ...

    Hi,

You can buy carby rebuild kits for these carbs. It has all the gaskets, diaphrams and jets. Just pull it down, clean it up, and rebuild it. Try and drill or knock out the plug while doing so.

Also there are a few places which will exchange (for a price of course) a fully rebuilt carby for your carby.
