I wasn't sure where the pub in Austinmer was and I think that was what Google Found. The rest of the directions was based on Google's logical. I don't the area well at all.

youve done a good enough job with the directions, i figured all the things i pointed out were from google maps(i know whereis puts pointless detours in sometimes)

there is the Headlands Hotel which is at the end of Headlands Ave
Or there is the Austibeach Hotel a little further on, right on Austimer Beach.

Headlands has heaps of parking.
The Austibeach hotel you park across the road in the beach carpark, which could be busy if it's a nice day, or dead quiet if it's like this weekend.

Both places do surf and turf - fry and grill type food.

I didn't get prices when I was there unfortunately as a Valentine's Day bus tour rocked up at the Headlands when I did as well, so they were a little busy and I couldn't get to the counter. The Austi seemed pretty busy when I drove past as well.

The bonus with the Austi though, is they do take away as well, so you can buy there and eat it on the beach

There is only the one pub in Austinmer, it is at the end of headlands avenue.....on the headland.....called Headlands.

The larger place across from the beach is a cafe. And yes it can be very busy and parking can be very hard to come by.

Man, farked if I know! Got a little bit of water in the ecu and it just shat itself! been tinkering since 3pm, no luck with anything. Taking the ECU to microtech tomorrow to see if they can find any problems.

Still weighing up the options of staying in Sydney Saturday night or making it a single mammoth 700km/8 hour driving day.

At least the start-time is friendly for Newcastle people, so we don't have to get up at the crack of dawn.
