The "6M" in Josh's MS51 made 80.2kw at Dyno day 16 and would run a hell of a lot better with a decent ignition and tune ! its the tuffest single cam M i have personally seen and is suprisingly rewarding to drive.
If my 4M gets into the 30's I will be happy, the throttle jammed wide open on its last maintenace run and its a tad unhappy since then. Mind you it was probably the first time in a couple of decades that it has been at wide open throttle too![]()

Mine wasn't too bad but needed more head work and cam action. I'm sure another 400mL of capacity wouldn't go astray.
That 6M of Josh's would be a good motor to start with. Whip off the head, port it and OS valves, your twin carb manifold with some Webers and a decent cam profile with more duration and lift and you'll see over 100 rwkW.
I know there is a mob in Japan that do big hp 5Ms...I must find the link. They're responsible for that triple Webered 5M white Cressida (or is it an 80 series Crown?) that's doing the rounds over there. I'm at work but I will try and find the link when I get home tonight.
Here is a pic - it was an MS105.

GT, Thats the best looking 4m ive ever seen! Thanks for the picture
Rod, Does anyone here including yourself have specs, torque settings, workshop manuals info on crowns etc, Ive got all that if you need anything about the 4m when you go to modifiy it. It maybe of some use to you to know particular things at some point, if needed i maybe able to helpout if you or anyone get stuck with something about these.
I dont know how easy it is to get manuals on the 4ms over there but its pritty hard to get anything at all about them here.

Interested to know if any more work was done to this - power seemed very low but on review I noticed it is running AFRs that I'd be comfortable with on a turbo car!
Surely was more power on it with less fuel?
Hi Shifty,
If you check the build thread for my MS51 you will see that it made 97 odd KW at around 12.2:1 AFR
http://www.toymods.org.au/forums/sho...=1#post1289321
That was through stock headers and the POS Ramflo filters. Some better filters and a set of extractors and it should have crested the 100 rwkw mark but I sold the car before I did anything else to it.
The MS51 was of course a manual and not an Auto like the MS75 was.

Hey guys, been working on my 75' Mark II for nearly a couple of years now. 4M with the rounded valve cover, done a few mods, won't list them all. The long and short of it is I want a performance carby on it... upgrades I have done require more fuel/air; something that the stock nikki one doesn't provide...
Any help on this would be greatly appreciated, I see the photo of the crown which looks like it has a set of twins?
Cheers!
Andrew.
Just throw a 7M in it.I did with mine and you wouldn't want to go back to a 4M.
Cheers Brett.
