hey guys
i have to admitt it is a awesome drive, ive been driving every night for the last 2 weeks& the windy hilly old pacific is great & the road is excellent
i actually just cruised down the old pacific from kariong this morning 2-3am & went down to wollongong & on the grand pacific drive then back up through sydney. the old pacific was the best bit, only car on the road & a great drive.
i have a thing for night driving, wether it be to canberra or newcastle it has to be night![]()

You could go for a cruise for the day and turn it in to a night event by continuing on to the drive ins.

It's 106 miles to Chicago, we got a full tanks of gas, half a pack of cigarettes, it's dark and we're wearing sunglasses.
- Hit it.
As great as the old pac is, in the day its full of cops, I know numerous people that have been booked on it (and let off) But I did used to do it every weekend for a couple of months and only saw a cop once!
As for the night, I highly doubt a cop would sit on the side of the road and wait, seeing as youre lucky to see a few cars every half an hour after 6pm, but then at night you have the problem of wallaby's, I hit one at 1am one night but only saw a couple prior to that at early evenings.
Sorry to put anyone off, even with these hazards its still worth it haha.

thanks for the tips Euphoria, we cruised the old Pac earlier this year at night. Only saw a wombat which was good.
Next couple of cruises should be great everyone check em out and come out

Did a night run from Harry's Cafe at Liverpool down the Hume Highway to the Mittagong exit. Across through Bowral to Robertson & stopped to chat at the Pie Shop. Then down Macquarie Pass. From there everyone made their own way home but you could have a final meetup at Northgate Maccas for coffee etc if its a night run. Or during the day have some pies at the pieshop.
Those that are keen could even head back home via the national park.
Another alternative, if for a day cruise is from the Pie shop down Jamberoo road & then to Kiama via the back road. Could then go to the fish co-op or hit up some of the Cafes for lunch.
