McCarrs Creek Road. you have to pay to enter the National Park either down to Akuna Bay or into West Head. It is free to drive from Bayview to Terrey Hills though.
I love this road, and used to drive up it everyday.

Ditto, we haven't done this in a while, and I haven't had a decent enough excuse to just drive it anyway. It is a bit far.

Yeah the putty road broke cruise was good, but i went for a bit of a long drive down to the kangaroo valley last weekend via the national park through stanwell tops along the new coast road. Skiped wollongong, past kiama way through berry turn at kangaroo valley road, now thats a nice tight road Stop at the Friendly inn for lunch then home. The pub has quiet a large grass carpark, but food only between 12-3pm and 6-9pm.
    Cheers Matty

Good thing about Putty is you might attract some of the Newcastle cars also.

What about some night Cruises, have had some awesome runs with the XR6 Turbo guys at night because the roads are empty so you can actually enjoy them.

Generally meetup round heathcote, then either go through the national park via waterfall or down the Old Princes highway. Have a stop over in Wollongong for Coffee at Maccas & chat. Then press on through to either Kiama then back through Jamberoo & up Macquarie Pass. Talk shit up the top for a bit & then everyone makes their own way home.

Can cut out the Jamberoo leg & go straight from the gong to Macquarie Pass or throw a happy lap of the foreshore in to (though its pretty dead these days).
    If in doubt power out

Agree on the night cruises, but they don't necessarilly need to be though some twisties.

The City lights cruise we did last year was great Stitt.
Not a lot of driving done but hit up some great spots for pics and the company was great with everyone in a good mood for a light hearted shit dribbling session.

And even though we went though the heart of the city it was still pretty easy to keep everyone at least close together.

Long cruises don't have to be often. Once every 6 months or 12 months. And need to be organised well in advance so people are aware & can plan for them.

Coast road around Wollongong is ok, but there's a big chance of finding some "sunday driver" doing half the posted limit.

Saturdays are better for me, but I'm probably in the minority.

Cruises that the Newcastle guys can come on without too much driving/hassle/early morning starts are always good. I reckon one up to Nelson Bay would be good too (but only if parking could be assured), it'd be a cruise-to-a-destination though not a cruise-for-the-route like Putty Rd.

And 6-12 months is good for long ones, I regularly go on the Twincam Bathurst cruise every year, and the Megacruise, but then again since most cruises come out of Sydney just about every one for me is a long one, often with ridiculously early start or staying the night before somewhere close......
