Thumbs down Hilux Surf 2L-TE problem

    Hi Guys,

just changed the head and the gaskets behind the turbo etc on the surf.... Its a 2L-TE engine.
    Its running...
    But...
its running rough, seems to miss every now and then, but thats not what concerns me so much.
The engine check light now comes on when i hit 2500 rpm under load, seems to have less power down low also than is normal. But sitting at idle and revving it, doesnt seem to have a problem, will rev as much as you want it to.
    Any ideas?
Its doing my head in. I really dont know much about diesels, or the computer/electrical stuff either. Im pretty sure we didnt miss anything while re-assembling, we checked a few times.

    Thanks in advance guys

    Tim

I haven't had much to do with the electronic 2L's, but overboosting problem is a possibility. Check your actuator opening pressure, check for air and exhaust leaks, and test what your boosting to at that 2500rpm.

Checked out that site Kedders, cheers for that. I wouldve found it, but was in a rush...wanted it back on the road for today.

I had an exhaust leak between turbo and dump pipe, fixed that while putting it all back together.

Thought it to be the timing...dad did that, set it up with TDC etc, and got it running. but apparently we may have missed something there, so i had my bro re-check it all last night.

The error code is reading code 12, fuel pump timer control valve...pain in the arse that is.

    all fixed....
    timing out 180, lol...
made a few changes to some things while it was back apart too.
changed the exhaust return thingo (blocked it)
and the guy accross the road mucked about with the boost actuator? and some hose, and now she boosts more than ever, and is noticably quicker/more powerful...
