Default Gasket goo on exhaust manifolds

Do you guys use / recommend hi-temp gasket goo (sealant) on exhaust manifolds, either side of the gasket?
Don't ask what engine this is for. You don't want to know.

Usually i'll just spray some hylomar on it, but you could also dare to use aviation or threebond type sealant. Generally it's not necessary though if the gaskets are already in good nick then simply making sure everything is tight is good enough.... and *always* use some hi-temp anti-seize lubricant on exhaust bolts/studs/nuts - it farks me off to no end when ppl don't

    Guys,

Keep in mind that any sort of silicon sealant will permiate and harm/kill your 02 sensor if you have one

You shouldn't need anything, and if you do, I.E. if you have done it recently and it still leaked, then the goo probably won't help. If it doesn't seal with a gasket and tight nuts then probably a flange is warped/damaged and it'll never seal until you have it looked at.

I've tried all sorts of crap to get a warped flange to seal but evrything blows out in time.

before efi, i used to always use red silicon on both sides of exhaust gaskets...

simply because it makes removing them sooo easy... no scraping offf burnt gaskets.. just peel off

hmm, what about the sensor safe silicon? i wonder if it's still safe if it burns?

O2 sensor... lets just say that *won't* be a problem.
oldcorollas - i like your thinking. Red sealant it is then.
