Default 4agze CAS, trigger and home inputs for haltech PS500

    Hey all,

Wiring up my haltech this weekend so far so good, i have the TPS, Air intake temp and coolant temp sensors wired and i also have the fuel pump, ECU, ignition and injector power relays wired (all individual relays).

I am now up to wiring up the pickup for the "HOME" and "trigger" inputs and am pretty much stumped as to how i go about it.

Has anyone got any ideas/previous experience wiring up the 4agze CAS as a pickup on either a haltech or other aftermarket unit.

    Cheers

    Casey

home or trigger goes to the CAS, the other is not needed as the ecu can read both top dead centre and crank angle from the 4agze Cam angle sensor.

they supply both for engines that have a crank angle only sensor so an addition cam angle sensor will need to be installed.

as the 4agze has a cam angle sensor it only requires one input, i believe you can toggle which of the two inputs the ecu reads from so it dosent matter which one you use, if you load the software onto your pc and have a read through it, it will probably answer any q's.

also the black wire off the gze plug is the tacho rpm signal input

I'd wire both trigger and synch so you have a hope of running sequentially.

Follow the directions in this post:

    Okay thanks to you both,

So far im under the impression:

CAS ne goes to: +trigger on the ecu
    CAS g1 goes to: +home
and home and trigger "-" will be wired to g-

g2 isnt used on the CAS

from that thread i gather not all wires on both the trigger and home are used? Only 2 from each shielded cluster of wires are used?

    what happens to the rest?

    cheers, this is very helpful

dont connect them, not required on a reluctor config. Just insulate the spare wires and tuck them away.

    Another quick question.

The wires have a shielding right? what is the loose wire within the home and trigger wires? is it part of the shielding and does it need to be grounded on the plug end? i have a feeling it is the wire that is fed back to ground through the ecu?

can someone clear this up for me?

the shielded wires should only be grounded at one end. If grounded at both then you will introduce noise to the signal wires through the signal ground circuit. (trigger, TPS, o2, intake temp, coolant temp etc)

A quick test with the multimeter will show if the wire is connected to the shield braid.

The shield is grounded at the ecu. Don't ground it anywhere else.

Worked that out last night chaps, but thank you for the piece of mind.

I am now running wires to the fuel pump, coils ecu and the therm's. I went and bought individual relays for each circuit so i can eliminate the confusion with the factory wiring and go by haltechs recommended power supply setup (im fussy) and i can also clean the engine bay up a little.

This may seem like a really stupid question but the 4ga cable from the starter motor is black and im almost certain it goes to +Battery unfused (or fused??), but i dont want to fuck my starter as that is the last thing i want to try and replace in my already packed engine bay. So yes thats another thing i'll need someone to clear up, but i think i have it on my wiring schematics of the car so yeah see who works it out first.

As for the Idle control solenoid, im going to leave unwired, then look for a 2nd or 3rd gen 3sgte TB with solenoid idle control as opposed to the current PWM type.

Will be busy today making brackets for fuse holders and the relays (and probably other shit) so ill try n take as many pics as i can.

    thanks again chaps

unfused directly to the battery yes.

3SGTE is still PWM idle control, it just has an open and close end so requires two PWM outputs.

2zzge uses a single-wire PWM idle valve (ST215 3sgte does too from memory), it has 3 pins:
    -12VControl
    -Signal
    -Ground

That type is the easiest to control in my experience and leaves you with spare outputs to play with.
