Default Soarer '85 twin turbo conversion

    G'day everyone,
new here so bear with me (already having trouble trying to put the pics up, as soon as i figure out image shack or how to resize em pics will be up )

    http://profile.imageshack.us/user/tonce1gz10/

now to the good part I've got a Soarer '85 non turbo and will be putting in 2 stock twin turbos I had gotten a bit excited when i seen them on pretty much the same motor as mine (well most of it looked the same) but I soon found out this was not going to be a simple clean conversion.

first I have a 1G-GEU motor and the one I have bought looks exactly the same(except is got turbo's and extra pipes and stuff)but my motor hasn't got the oil feed lines connectors on the head or the oil dump fittings on the block.
I did figure out the oil feed problem, I will be getting the oil to the turbo's from the oil pressure sensor with a T piece and then splitting it again to the TT'S (seemed like plent of oil for both when i hooked up a fitting and clear hose to test it )

the sump will have to be drilled which hopefully won't be to much of a problem.

the turbo's will be cleaned and flushed as best as I can and new gaskets will be put in , I will not be pulling them completly apart as they seem fine spinning by hand.(nice and tight but free spinning, if that make sense)

oh I do also have the Computer that came with the motor and gearbox.
now my problem is (beside having to find a 2nd hand intercooler and pipes) is what about vacum house fittings? my manifold doesn't have these should i put that one on or can i stick with mine and make new ones or not worry about vacum holes? can I just block them up ?

and I do have the fitting for the thermostat houseing with the 2 nipples for the coolant for the TT's and the dizzy( i think its called that )

and does anyone know what motor is the one I bought? if someone wnats to know the background of the car an or prices paid I'm happy to let you know.

any help, comments or question is appricet apprcieate is welcome

i think i got the imageshack thingy working

Its not just a simple matter of "bolting on the turbos" and away she goes your ggeu computer will not have fuel/timing maps for when the engine hits boost, amongst many other things including compression ratio differences between the NA and turbo engines.

best bet, get a ggte loom + computer and replace the ggeu completely with the ggte engine.

What he said. Complete 1G-GTE engines are cheap, it's pointless building some sort of hybrid out of a 1G-GEU and other random bits.

pointless as in to hard or expensive, or pointless as in it won't be to powerful or even go at at all?

I agree, you need a complete 1g-gte with wiring loom and ECU, but you might need to use the 1g-ge's sump on your 1g-gte as the 1g-gte wont fit into your z10 otherwise.

    Hey guys,

Just as a bit of background on this, I met Joe a couple of weeks ago and referred him to come visit the forum for some tech info and experienced advice. When he asked about this I basically gave him the answer that it will be easier to swap out the 1G-GEU for the 1G-GTE and use as much as possible of the wiring loom and ecu off the turbo motor as possible. As you can probably see from his pics, the turbo motor has been sitting for a while. Any additional tips or advice for checking out the condition of the motor besides pulling it apart and throwing new seals in etc?

ok, say I did go the more pratical way and fix the turbo motor up, the wiring loom has some cut wires which don't match up to the cut wires on the other side attachment.

plus how much mucking around will it be with the plumbing and pipes(heater hoses and stuff)

new pics up of wiring will be up asoon as imageshack is working

or i think you might have to be a user and log in to view the pics

Best plan is. Use the complete 1GGTE engine with matching loom and ecu. Take the CAMS out of the 1GGEU as there considered an upgrade. using the stock 1GGEU ecu is a no no as it doesnt have maps for + boost.

I would replace every seal outside the motor that you can do. rear, front main seals, misc hoses. esp the coolent hoses at the back of the engine. Ive had an engine sitting around for 3 months it ran fine........

thanks for the advice I've got the ECU and the looms, but i'm worried the looms cut up in a way were the wires don't seem to match on the other side of the cut wires( hope that makes sense) in the pics its probably not that clear. so I sould use me 1GGEU cam ey? didn't know that thanks.
don't know if the TT moter will be any good if I do any of that , its been sitting in the rain for atleast 3 yrs(maybe more)

    cheers though
