when you have the same size filter housing, more flow = bigger holes for air to go thru. it is not rocket surgery.

any filter that is not paper (which has really small holes, but larger area to compensate), needs oil to trap the dirt particles.

dry K&N etc and foam all flow really well.. cos they are just rock filters.
add oil and the flow rate goes down. esp if you put too much on.

I read a filter comparison somewhere and these have great flow and filtration.
yep, that's the one from the AutoSalon mag review.

IIRC the Zoom review came out with the Drift and the Apexi Power Intake filters coming out on time, pretty easilly matched on horsepower gained. Seeing the particle filterring review posted above also, I'd wager on the Apexi Power Intake filter being pretty darn good.

over oiling the filters also has the potential to foul various Air Flow sensors... just one more potential headache.

Like a hotwire AFM. My mate has an RB20DET and uses a blitz filter because an oiled K&N would cause a problem with his hotwire AFM.

It's a damn fare bet that any filter that is of original equipment specs is going to keep the fine dust/dirt out of your engine.
If there is a question mark about air flow thu the filter element, then manometer testing would reveal the real story.
Best part is, it doesn't cost SFA and you won't have to be subjected to some less than impartial magazine test.
http://autospeed.com/cms/A_107827/article.html does various manometer tests on an EF Falcon and it showed a pressure drop of 1" of water across the standard air filter element.
1" of water or 0.036 psi.......... 2/3rds of a constipated gnats fart worth of pressure .

Well the test on MKIV.com shows that the BLITZ filter is one of the worst, did your workshop use the blitz sus filter? The one with metal elements.

the boss had a meter of some sort on the system to test how much flow was actually getting through. all though i hate the magazine the results were actually in the autosalon magazine a while back probably over a year ago, i will see if i can get the results and put them up for you, so you can see for yourself.
