    Hi,

Agreed. If you love your engine then the genuine Toyota oil filter is the way to go. You can get away with a lot of non-Toyota parts that are just as good and cheaper... but not in regards to the oil filter.

What makes you guys believe Genuine Toyota filter is better than the Ryco one?

Is there any evidence to back it up or just the fact that when you buy genuine Toyota you think that its better than any other brand?

Couple of years since I had a close look at this. I spent quite a few hours working my way through Google and looking at some of the comparisons on quality of oil filters. What sparked my interest was living in PNG and finding that the filter fro my YANMAH boat diesel was AUD$90 - I wanted to make sure that I was doing the right thing going after market, my research indicated that it would be a mistake, however I did find that the Mazda MX6 was compadible Pity I did not save the searches but there were clearly significant differences between the quality of the oil filters out there. OEM seemed in all cases to out perform others. If I recall toyota was at the top of the field.

You may need to do your own search to satisfy yourself. Rest assured I now purchase all my oil filters as OEM.

now this may not be true, but i was told that the toyota ones do not drain back to the sump when switched off.
so when u start you have oil everywhere faster, rather than having to fill filter first...

    cheers

Yes this is true, But i use the TRD oil filters which eliminate this along with other oil circulation problems they are the way to go if you really love taking ultimate care of your performance engine. They last 10,000ks too.
