    Default battery choice

    Hi all

I need to replace the battery in my gt4 and have been thinking about eventually moving it into the boot approximately 6-12 months time, so my question is:

What brand of battery do you think is better for putting into the boot? Optima, Odyssey or something different?

If you use a sealed battery like you listed above, then it won't need to be vented
If you use a lead acid battery you will need to put it in a battery box and vent it out through the floor.
All down to cost, but less rooting around with a sealerd battery, just more cost.

ive got an odyssey dry cell in mine, its under the drivers seat, had to space the seat up with a couple of washers to give clearance, and i also had to loose the height adjustment on the seat (but why would you case, you set it to how YOU want it and leave it anyway)

GT-Fours dont have much room in them at the best of times so under the seat is a good way IMO to save room.

one thing i have found with it if i leave it connected after 4-5 days it wont start, but ive fitted a kill switch and just turn it off at night since its usually a few days + between drives (lives in a locked up garage anyway)

Odyssey batteries are a great options *IF*, and only if, you start/drive the car regularly.

With my alarm etc, it's been suggested to me that I start/drive it at least once a week.

Personally I've never had an issue, but when I go on my Europe trip for a month she'll be disconnected.

Ps: odyssey's never really recharge properly after a full discharge. Bottom line - take care of them

optima hates not being driven/charged. as in it will completely fuck itself if you leave it (even disconnected) for a month or so. ive had 3 returns on warranty (at least they are good with that) as they just will not charge after being ignored?

you MUST leave them on some kind of 'intelligent' trickle charge ie one that cycles and pulses and whatever else the damn things do.

when they work, fuck they pack a wallop of a kick, cant fault them there, but yeah, for a project/toy car either have a charge connection panel mounted to the car (yay! not) or pick another battery

I have an Odyssey, and drive the car fu@k all, and it never has a problem starting, If any car does not start after sitting for any time up to two weeks or more, somethings wrong-like a drain on the battery. Alarms drain f all when armed.

uhuh... so, if my battery is completely disconnected from any wiring circuit theres still something wrong with my car? definitely not the battery, no. and yeah, its also completely normal for a discharged battery to refuse to take a charge again. yup. *subscribes to your newsletter*

WTF sorry i think i missed that bit about YOURS being disconnected! ........ if i was even refering to you.
maybe thats why you don't like optima, maybe they are crap, i have never used one.
batteries don't just drain by them self everyday . If a car can't start after sitting for a week liks cuts then thats not normal.
    I could be wrong,but i don't think so.
