i dare you to try just one of these stainless pulleys.

when it's a brass bearing that has no gaps in it, how do you propose dirt and sand to get in anyway? wtf?

as previously mentioned, it's a high load slow speed application, so why the fuck you would need high speed rated bearings is beyond me.

if you're in the Dandenong area and want to check one out, go to 2/5 berends rd dandy sth.

I don't understand. Any maintenance, even wd40 or urine, would be better for it then what sounds like zero maintenance! I am Much more interested in why a Mini is being towed and it's specs, I had an early Cooper 997.

Do you have a grease gun? Drill holes in bolts and the old bushing for lubing with a Zerk/grease fitting, some are self tapping. How about having each pulley with a woven stainless covered Teflon hose that is AN/d to each bolt, going to a CNC'd manifold to squirt all of them at once?
Shields can be made out of any flat plastic scrap and the pulleys can be cut for fitting an O-ring or even kite string packing.

How many times/RPMs does this thing turn in a year?
    Gotta run OJ is talking!
'I've scrapped better.' John stated when asked about the car by the guy with the silver tipped cowboy boots!

He's hardly an authority but the RACV guy reckons 80km/h. 60km/h seems ridiculously slow. Especially since the primary use seems to be for people to tow a little car behind their RV. Imagine driving round Australia at 60km/h max.

Anyhow... much progress was made last night. af300e, shelldrake and i were working on it after work. More details later. I'm fucked from a work Christmas party right now.

that was what i thought. i was chatting to the head of the vehicle inspection part of the rta. he asked for me and the answer was the rta doesn't want them on the road, so made a ridiculously low speed. other states seem much less gay in this regard. have you looked at a/c idler pulleys ? or using a larger diameter bolt which is drilled for a grease nipple ?

Oh really. I was always under the impression they were not legal in NSW however don't have any literature to back that up.
I found it especially entertaining (when speaking to (old) Melbournians a long, long time ago) that some Taxis used to use them to tow your car and you back home after getting plastered.
Sorry, no help on the bearings...
