Is this so the key works? or so the ecu is tricked?
If its so the key works then the 2 larger pins on the old shifter plug.
If its so the ecu works I'm pretty sure you earth the NSW pin.

I don't think the NSW pin does anything of any value on the ecu (other than diagnostics mode), so its not vital.

If when you turn the key the starter motor engages just left it at that.

The ECU uses the NSW switch to adjust the idle set point via the ISCV.

What about gearshift control? What gearbox are you using? Manual/Auto?

The ecu uses the IDL contact to adjust the idle set point.

Idle control is also set via the NSW pin not just the IDL pin .

In that case it should work. Since you want it to idle as though it was in neutral anyway.

BTW the ECU uses many inputs to determine the idle speed.

If the idl contacts are closed it determines the idle speed based on if the A/C is on and if the car is in neutral and also the coolant temp.

The ECU also determines if there is an electrical load such as the lights or demister and changes the frequency with which it adjusts the iscv.

If you ever try and get bigger cams running on a stock 7M ECU you will learn a lot about idle control.

The IDL contact is the most important, as without that the ecu will not go into proper idle control.
All the other inputs (except water temp) just adjust the idles pre-set limit, which (depending on the size of the engine) can have a great (small motors) or negligible (large motors) affect on the motor.

    Agreed.

The (Electrical load sense) ELS however does not adjust the set point but the frequency at which the ISCV is adjusted.

Which ECU's have this ELS input ?

The ones I've use don't have it.
The 7MGTE does have individual circuits for defog, lights, etc.
The 1UZFE doesn't have anything listed (at least in the diagrams I have)

7mge cressida has it (which is the ECU in question). I'm not sure what others.

Must be a Cressida thing, as the Supra 7MGE on the Cygnus site has the separate inputs.

    ELS is listed here
