Default 1jz oil dipstick with custom inlet

as in title, ive got no where to mount anything to the dipstick to hold it in place. and the orings are fucked at the bottom so it barely sits into the sump. so if anyones got a decent 1JZ dipstick ill buy it .

Im thinking that if i had something like JB weld? to hold it in place that i wouldnt need to secure it at the top as it would be pretty dam stiff.

something that will work and i can forget about

    thoughts?

mines the same, what are they supposed to attach to originally?

i was thinking just some 1.5mm bar attached to a local bolt to hold it nice and steady

I was also faced with this problem. Mine came about as I had purchased the motor and sump separately. The motor did not originally come with a dipstick, luckily the sump did but was not the exact style intended for the motor.

I used a metal cord clamp used designed for 12mm diameter electrical cable and found it worked a treat. I removed the rubber insulation from the clamp, formed the clamp around the dipstick tubet then manually persuaded the tube/clamp assembly to line up with a spare hole on the inlet manifold and bolted it into place. The dipstick doesn't come up in the factory position but is neat and solved my problem.

    Hope this helps.

im thinking you could bolt it to the strut tower so that it cant move up and down, but it can slightly side to side when the engine moves

I believe the best idea would be to fix the dipstick to the engine. I think you would want to minimise any relative movement between the dipstick and engine.

If you fix the any part of the dipstick to the body of the car this will give the o-ring seal at the base of the dipstick a very hard time. Every time you get on and off the throttle the engine will rock around pulling at the dipstick which is now fixed to something that is stationary. Does that make sense?

I moved mine to the front. Just carefully bent the dipstick tube.
