you would need to bridge the neutral start switch since you will run a manual gb now ;-)
I have been doing a manual conversion on my ga70 supra and it has the gen2 auto ecu in it and i am putting a manual gearbox in it now, what i am wanting to check is...
As far as i am aware there is no wiring involved at all for the ecu or anything like that as the car will run fine with the auto ecu still in place, is this correct?
Thankyou, James![]()

Right!.....
So how do i go about completing this task? It cant be that difficult to do?
Thanks mate.
Heres a brief description for you ill get some pics if you cant suss it out
There are 3 or 4? plugs that go down to the auto gearbox one of those plugs has 3 thick wires 2 being blue and white cut and splice those together and you should be right
oh and if the OD light on your dash keeps flicking after your done dont worry about it its just the ecu going where the !#@$ is my over drive switch u can just take out the bulb or put a bit of tape over it or even rip the switch outta the old shifter and hide it somewhere.

Cheers mate,
Did you replace any seals in the gearbox before you fitted it in?
Do the GA70's run an ECT computer like the MA70's ?
If so, just remove the ECT computer and the OD light will stop flashing.
Your cruise control wont work either, but can with some trickery, which has been covered in another thread recently.

There are no major seals or anything in the gearbox that should be done before i put it in or checked out?
The ect computer is that down on the passengers side in the ma70? I think i have seen that in mine? If so then that will be a good way of stopping it flashing. And i dont have cruise control anyway.
thanks
You can replace the front and rear seals on the gbox if you want to.
The rear one takes about 5 minutes, the front probably an hour. They cost $10 each.
The rear ones commonly leaks, the front rarely does.

if your going to replace teh rear seal take it with you to get measured because there are quite a few different ones for the w58Originally Posted by Gttwinturbomk3

I have been looking at the w58 components in diagrams and i cant even see any seals?Originally Posted by CrUZida
I think maybe i am confusing myself from front and rear engine seals!
I will just put the gearbox straight into the car as it is and see how it goes from there.
I weighed my flywheel and it is 7.70 kgs so i think it has been lightend at bit
CrUZida, Any idea on the weights of the different 1g flys?
And when i use the alignment tool, after the backing plate is tightend up the disk should be in the exact right position for me to take the tool out is that correct?
actually theres a couple with different internal diameters, i found out the hardway.Originally Posted by CrUZida

The internal diameter? as in where the shaft goes?
All W5x's are the same in that regard. The R154 and the A34xE are larger, but all W5x's are the same.

well unless toyota gave me a rear seal that fits perfectly in my w58 but has a diameter larger than the tailshaft and isnt meant for a w58, id say theres more than one because when i rang they mentioned they had more than 1 listed for the w58 and i happened to get the wrong one first time around 2nd one i got fit and sealed properly so it wasnt my shaft causing the leakOriginally Posted by CrUZida

They probably gave you an R154 seal.
I've also asked for a seal to suit a 1990 Supra with 7MGE before and received an R154 seal. Sometimes they just dont look/care.
