    Default Clutch for R154

    Hi,

I have been looking around for a clutch for my setup.
I have a 2JZ-GTE with a T04Z and an R154 gearbox. I have seen similar setups plus cams make just over 600rwhp so I will be aiming for about 500rwhp but would like a clutch that can hold more then that if i go bigger in the future.

can anyone recemend a clutch that will hold the power?
so far i have spoken to Mal Woods who was fairly useless and now wont get back to me with any info and Jim Berry who was quite helpful but didnt think he would be able to make a clutch that would hold the power.
I was looking at the twin plate SPEC clutch that is rated to 1400nm of torque but after doing some reading and speaking with Jim Berry it seems the quality of these things isnt the best.
I have also seen DLA11D on these forums has similar power to what im after with pretty much the same setup using a twin plate HKS. I have looked at the HKS site and a few retailers (nengun, greenline, etc) and havent been able to find a twin plate HKS to suite a jza70. I sent a PM to DLA11D and got no reply, so does anyone have a model number or anything for this clutch?

The last option I can see is OS Giken. The R4C should hold the power no worries but I have read its not very nice to drive on so i was considering the R3C or even one of the twin plates but not sure how these will hold up with the power and abuse it will most likely cop.

What can people recemend and are there any other choices out there?

    Thanks
    Shane

Call Otomoto and buy an OS Giken twin or triple plate from them.

they can tell you how much each clutch will hold and unlike most places you will also get after sales service, not to mention they carry rebuild parts in stock.

its all good getting custom stuff built at a lesser price but when you can't get parts support for 3 or 4 weeks why bother?.

My OS Giken twin plate is holding 500rwhp, a tripple plate from OS would be sweet.

Thanks Roadrunner. I was after an off the shelf item for exactly that reason. I'll give Otomoto a call and see what they can do.

Thats exactly what I wanted to hear
How does it seem to be holding? Do you think there is room for a fair bit more power or would you go the tripple plate for anything more then 500rwhp?

Anyone know how the drivability of the OS Giken tripple plate is? Its not a huge concern because its not going to be a daily, but I would like something I can drive in traffic every now and then.

Yeah I am over multiplate clutches... churping when shifting, harsh engagement on the drivetrain, rattle rattle, on / off feel. Maybe when I can justify a million dollar carbon clutch yes, but for now its a single...

i already have and he wasnt very confident that he could get something to hold that much power and didnt seem keen on looking at multiple plates. I would much rather have an off the shelf one then custom too

    How about ORC?

Running a 709D twin in my jza, clutch is rated to 700ps. Dampened plates easy to drive and stock clutch pedal feel. A bit on the noisy side with the pedal engaged could be the only negative if i had to say one. Very popular in drift competition in japan so certainly built to take abuse.
If money is the root of all evil.... then why do they pass the collection plate around in church

Has anyone tried NPC Performance Clutches in Archerfield (Brisbane)?
I'm sure they could custom make anything you want and their prices seem to be really good whenever I have needed to source clutches.
