    Default Removing Immobilisers

    Hey guys,

So i'm pretty sure my immobiliser has died and no it's not just the battery in the button...

Just wondering if anyone can give me an idea of what to do regarding removing it...

I'm not sure what immobiliser it is but the button looks like the one in this pic...

Any help would be great! I'll try do it before i take it into an auto leccy...

    Thanks
    Daniel

Basically an immobiliser is just a relay controlled by the remote so if you can find the box you're half way there. If its like the one in the pick, at a guess I would say the cables at the lower right are the ones being controlled (fuel pump/ignition) and the other bunch is the power supply (fused), earth, Flashing red light, indicators and possibly connections for central locking and other options etc.

Locate the controlled wires and track them through the dash to where they splice into the original wiring. disconnect from the original wiring and reconnect the two ends of the original wiring together. This should remove the units ability to immobilise the car. Test if car starts. The rest is basically ripping out the box and disconnecting the rest of the immobiliser loom.

If you have a look under the dash you should see wires that are often clearly different finish/gauge to the stock wiring. I usually start by finding the wires from the ignition as they are usually heavier gauge and go from there. you'll generally see splices and breaks in the factory wiring where it's fitted.
