    Default Sv21 3sgte/1MZ-FE/3MZ-FE conversion

    hey
jus wonderin how much work it would be to swap a 32sgte into my 4cyl sv21 camry? much modifications to mountings etc?
also would celica rear discs fit easily onto the old camry?
    thanx

edit: also what is the difficulty in swapping with a later model V6 camry motor as apparently that is P plate legal, according to RTA?

    32S-GTE... WTF is that!

I take it you mean a 3S-GTE... It should'nt be to major a job, and there are plenty of people around that have done it before...

I'm sure a Search will find you many...

If you have a Gen 3, there have been some 3SGTE's put into them, but it does requrie more work, since the mounts are different. You can use the 5SFE and build it up with a 3SGTE head, making it a 5SGTE. Also, you can pop in the 1MZ V6.

Gen 4 is similar, same sorta engines/work than the Gen 3. And Gen 5, well, not too many people have ventured there yet!

dude. go to www.camcrew.com.au its been done before but there is alot of mony involved. Celica rear struts have also been done beofre but its a pain in the arse ive been told.

If anything ive got a spare sv21 auto shell in my back yard that i need to get rid of, you could use it as a mock up shell. ive got a ''custom'' front bar on it and some 15 or 16'' mags aswell. Get back to me if this interests you. loacted at Ferny Grove.

The 3sgte swap has been done a fair bit now. The 1mzfe and 3mzfe swap would be a far more challenging conversion. In regards to legality, I'd be speaking to an engineer first as with the 1mzfe or 3mzfe swap as you will be venturing into unchartered waters. Theres a few things I'd be concerned about fitment with such a conversion. Heads on the 1mzfe and 3mzfe are quite large in width and could foul on firewall. Plenum height could also foul the bonnet. Then again we have seen these motors shoved into mr2 bays and we know how small they are!

Try to source a e153 transmission out of a manual v6 Camry or mr2 3sgte turbo (swap linkages). Transmission will handle more than enough for all three engine variants here.

The easiest brake conversion would be the rear disc brake upgrade out of the vzv21 gen2 Camry. A search on toyotanation should dig up this thread.
