I'd read that 22Rs didn't breathe well but I didn't realise it was that bad. I'm getting more and more interested in what your doing.
I think it might be time for a new thread.
I will make a seperate thread, seeing as I think I may have hijacked this threadOriginally Posted by PHOBIA

I won't post my research until I know it actually works. I'm trying a reverse hybrid, which from what I've been told by US engine builders, works 10x better than the conventional 20r head on an early 22r block![]()

"The biggest sore point of the 20/21/22r series motors, is their incapability to breath."
& well as for them not breathing.... not true...
it was the early 20R & 21R-U motors with the small ports....
our ADM 21Rc, & 22R motors have the large ports....
Hmmmm.. seem's the have covered all...
20R = coaster bus
21Rc = RA60, RT133...
22RE = RA65, RT142 ('85)... no cat'
22RE = RT142 ('86)... with cat'
22R = RN85 (carby)
a mate is running my old 22R (from RN85) in his RA60, @ 150bhp.......![]()
this motor is nat' asp' using a 32/36 weber, extractors, double row valve springs, port & polish, & cam....
these motors are good for cheep power... but parts are ex the USA.. (import only)..
cheers
PS. i've been building these motors for nearly 10yrs now.. & i have conections in the USA for parts....
in the USA they can get 250bhp from a nat' asp' 22R with twin side drafts....
