removing driveshafts - 4agze

how the feck do i remove the Drivers side driveshaft on a GZE??? its dif from my 20v one.. normally id slap a crow bar between the dust cap and the gearbox and pop it out but it looks diff and appears to be in two parts or somthn..

I tend to undo the bolts on the CV's rather than pulling the axle out of the box. That way there is no risk of damaging the axle seal and none of the gearbox oil spills out kind of handy when it's ~$100 worth of oil. It takes a little while but it's always worked well for me.

only problem is when then the CV decides to drop all the balls in the case into the rubber boot

not fun putting it back together..

i always just get a piece of wood a use it to lever between the inside the the cv and the gearbox casing.

what is the shaft out of ? th equal length shafts you just unbolt them all (including the monster circlip) and they pretty much just pull out by hand.

so just remove that big fuck off circlip and unbolt that bracket as well? and it should pull out like the other one?

yup undo the circlip and it'll just pull straight out

Take out the circlip and undo the bolt... Slide it out and you're done...

yeah should no be hard do it haw you do ant drive shaft
crow bar it out, all same, just a bit bigger or smaller

i use cable ties and the half moons over the joint to ensure i dont loose my balls. (by memory it shows useing the half moons with the bolts and nuts that hold the 2 halves together in the bgb, i like cable ties ). i lost them when i 1st pulled out a gze driveshaft in 99 and learnt (or made up to be precise) a few choice words when i was trying to put it back together...




if anyone is looking for an inner CV boot, i found the Kelpro CIB-527 to be the closest match.

oh and for the record.. if you are alooking for replcement CV's...

ST185 units (all 4) are direct replacements and are easy enough to source.
