I tend to undo the bolts on the CV's rather than pulling the axle out of the box. That way there is no risk of damaging the axle seal and none of the gearbox oil spills out kind of handy when it's ~$100 worth of oil. It takes a little while but it's always worked well for me.

(by memory it shows useing the half moons with the bolts and nuts that hold the 2 halves together in the bgb, i like cable ties
