    Default 4age pistons

ok im just doing a bit of research i am building a street engine which i want to be able to run fine without a turbo and at the same time be able to take maybe 10 pound boost the next day
my question what pistons would you recomend to use as i have a set of low comp 4agze pistons here and the static compression is to low. as when i first get the engine running i wont have the turbo on it. would the 4age small port pistons be able to handle it? i will also have a microtech lt10s running it if that helps.

also what is the different comp ratios for all the 4age pistons?

A lot of people run small boost on smallport engines and seem to do quite well, I guess it is all in the tune!!

If you want I have a set of smallport pistons you could have cheap if u please.

Hmmmmmm you might get yourself a set of Wiseco, or similar "high compression" pistons... and have the crowns cut down to lower compression to upper 9, or low 10. That way you'd have a slug able to produce power now, and withstand boost later... with proper management

Wiseco's have a large under-dome bump so the metal is still fairly thin, so you can't machine much off the top at all. If they got rid of that silly goddamn bump and made a much flatter piston they'd be a good thing. They're useless to me how they are though and that's a pity as the rest of the piston is very nice.

engine should be fine will be a bit average till the revs get up.

other option is 8.9gze pistons and a trd 0.5 hg. would give you 9.5 or so static cr or so

will be alot better as na and will boost fine to 10psi, if you want to up the boost alot you can change hg over...

I like this idea........ seems well thought out...

Bill - Ahhh I've never used the Wisecos... are the JE slugs "bumped" as well??? And then there is also Arias... again if they don't have the bump.......

My brother bought a set not long ago and they were around $400 a set from Toyota. I'd suggest trying another Toyota dealer unless the price has nearly doubled in the past 6 months?
