Ford motorsport have been selling around 8mm spacers to allow ventilated disks on Escorts since the 70's without a problem.

Spacers that big are not a problem, but as GT said you'll need all them extra bits..
We often space the volvo calipers out by large amounts without a problem for all the Escort rally cars.

Ranger rover space their AP calipers 22mm for the vented disc upgrade, square section orings should't be more than $1 retail (OMFG I'm agreeing with shane), Bolts were upped to grade 10, from 8's.

I spaced my Sumitomos by 13mm. No problems, just you need to get all those bits made up.

the 8mm was a hypothetical value that just happened to coincide with the thickness of an r33 rotor and was kinda purely coincidental (who am i kidding).
Note i didn't edit that however

I write this cos i have always been impressed with shane's brake setup but don't know what the issues are with the spacing. (again i am ignoring costs although i would love to know)
Like it has been mentioned i have seen some aftermarket brakes that have huge spacers in them and i was just concerened about the rigidity of it all.
Like it was mentioend, after repeated braking from 160kph how does that spacer stand up now that there are multiple mating surfaces for a caliper instead of one.

Have you tried your brake setup out yet shane (i haven't looked in members ride to see if it was going or not, last time on the old forums it was still getting stuff added to it) under stress like a track day?

if one was to choose the r33 setup as per Cruzsida's (in planning) bracket, or the RX7 with spacer and 300mm, 25mm rotor as per Cool1's setup, where would each end up after a couple of laps on the track.

My brake setup is currently fitted to a MK1 Escort tarmac rally car. Its doing ok.
As said though, my spacers are not mad from cheap alloy offcut.
