I'm trying to work out an airbox setup for the mr2, even a plumbed back BOV on a supercharger is bloody noisy...
I think a dyno run with that manifold (baffeled) would be interesting... Of course only with boost.
In general i think if you cant handle the noise of your car or its fatiguing in a race, its coz the exhaust is too loud. There are a million ways to get a flowing exhaust that is still quiet (presently a hypocritical statement). But induction noise is a beautiful thing!
The advantages of cold air intake are great, but limited for forced induction, and even for NA cars its gotta be done right - especially to come up with 15% reduction (in temp not volume im assuming) and 5hp at the rear wheels... For example the box and extra plumbing will cause a loss (restriction), in certain "daily drving" conditions and depending on positioning they may become heatsoaked. Where is the gain gone?
On older cars that never had one, if you experiment there are gains to be picked up IN CERTAIN CIRCUMSTANCES. On a later model car, if you want the best balance of (no) noise, cooler air & power, across a broader range of revs & driving conditions - look no further than.... what came from the bloody factory.
meh...

try running the plumb back into a big chamber then back into the intake to act as a big resonator =)
That could work, I just need to find room for a big chamber![]()
