it will sound like every other rolla with an exhaust.......
Hey guys,
I'm interested in a 2" cat back with hotdog and twin pipe tip for my rolla.
It is an automatic.
I've heard that auto doesn't get a good sound like manual will? I've also heard it really won't sound that good for the money spent?
Is this the case?
Thanks.
it will sound like every other rolla with an exhaust.......
save your money man, for a 4age or a manual conversion or something other then a gay exhaust on a gay car (auto)
the only reason an Auto Corolla should have an exhaust is if it is a Drag car!
I'm really sorry mate but this is probably the stupidest thing I have ever herd!
but to answer your question, It will sound loud, the only reason people say it will sound shit is because its an auto, you will get that Commodore stigma of the gear change it goes like this
OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA
this is to me the perfect example of something that should not sound loud.
The note should be the same on auto or manual.
Maybe you can find some friends who have the same engine and a catback + twin tips and see if you like their sound.
Give it a go, get the exhaust installed and see how it sounds.

Should... but isn't. autos seem to drone a hell of alot worse, and sound horrible. Not to imply that a droney manual ae92 is much good either, but wayyyy less annoying..Originally Posted by Z2TT

Never knew that, how does the type of transmission affect it?
Does the transmission case somehow cause the exhaust note to reverb and echo throughout the car?
have you driven an auto and manual?
the auto stays at similar revs for longer and take longer to get thru gears... and tends to stay similar revs even when road speed changes a bit...
so a manual is like
OOOOOAAAAAA-----OOOOOAAAAAA-----OOOOOAAAAAA-----OOOOOAAAAAA-----
but auto is like
OOOOOOOOOOOOOOAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA-OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOAAAAAAAAAAAAAA
both sound shit, but the auto sounds more shit because it stays at similar tone for longer...
of course a faster car changes rpm more quickly and sound s abit less shit.. but antyhing with just a hotdog and twin tips will sound ultra shit.

Don't waste your cash on an exhaust for an auto. Hang on to your cash an look for an upgrade. There will probably be a lot of car yards/private sales trying to get rid of a second or third car for dirt cheap in the next 6-12 months. Get yourself a manual twincam anything and start from there.

dont listen to them, car will sound great provided you fit an intercooler prior to the intake.
will totally smooth out the airflow and give you the tuned sound you are looking for.
So thats where those "can I fit an intercooler to my NA car" come from....![]()
intercoolers fitted to NA cars only work if you get the intercooler anodised black.Originally Posted by wa5

I believe that will actually heat the intake charge if the car is Super/Turbo charged.
Unless of course the intercooler is mounted with the intake and outlet on the vertical axis as opposed to the more usual horizontal...... and as every one knows you must reverse this for front wheel drive... except Audis.
I just took it too far..... didnt I ?
Inter cooler on an n/a car will just create a restriction.
I agree with everybody else, if you want something to spend money on you need something good to start with, then the money you spend on mods such as exhaust will pay off.
But if you just want to get a louder sound, then go for it.
