Default W5# throw out bearing clips

Hey guys ive got a quick question about the clips on the clutch fork for the center bearing holder.. Why is it that the clips are so flimzy and the holder looks like it gonna fall off with the first push of the clutch?? Is there another center bearing holder out there for the w5# series that actually holds it on the fork tighter ?..Reason i ask is i had to drop the box out to replace the fork and now looking at it makes me worried about the bearings security

I wouldn't worry about it mate. The clip was holding it against the fork and its not falling off right (ie not damaged or anything)? Its only just got to hold it to the fork. Just make sure it went back together the same way it came apart

Did you buy a new bearing? I remember when I did mine I used the old clip as it clipped over the two grooves on either side of the fork. The new clip was a little different and didn't clip to the fork as nicely but still would have worked just as well.

ive replaced the bearing 2 months ago since then i had to remove the box to fix the faulty fork.. when i removed the box the bearing holder just floped out lol.. Ive put it back the way it should with the new fork and it just looks shabby, how the clips have alot of play.. just worried i go about putting it together to find the throw out bearing holder slips of the fork when i slap the box in..

Thanks for your words of wisdom..

Hmm well it shouldn't just flop out heh. Did you use the new clip that came with the new bearing when you put it back together?

I doubt the Toyota engineers thought these clips would fall out. There maybe other styles, but may not be in the Toyota range as this is common to most Toyota boxes.

All the clips do is pull the the holder and its release bearing back from the clutch cover fingers when the clutch pedal is released.

As long as they are in place, not bent or damaged and the holder greased up and free to silde on the shaft then all is good and the way Toyota meant it to be.

Yer i understand where your coming from.. its just the fact of why my bearing holder fell off my fork in the first place ?? reason why i had to remove the box so its got me paranoid.

You were probably careless when you installed it last time.
They are very easy to knock off and much care has to be taken when you install the box.

The W40/50 series use different clips (and a different fork) so Toyota must have decided that it needed improving.

It would be interesting to see if the JZA80 W58 uses the same setup.
