i didnt read the entire thread but to answer your initial question RA40 strut is the one your looking for
the caliper mount is integrated into the stone guard which can be unbolted from the strut
- ma61 + 2jz-gte + v160 + 3.5 torsen

So it seems RA40 or RA28 are the goers. Probably the same strut in the end.

Joel's thread had some pics of how he used the caliper bracket (from RA40 strut), added some thick metal around the existing holes and then drilled/taped holes to suit the Mazda calipers. The thickness of the added metal is your means of centering the caliper over the disk.
Yeah, flat plate will suffice, as i have to mount mine about 8mm further in.

have you dummied up the rotor to the hub yet?....ie the rotor is going to clear the lower ball joint/tip of the lca?
i have r33 brakes on the 23, the rotors sit 5mm from the lower ball joint/lca...
just somethiong to factor in as its easily overlooked.
Im using the same rotors as the CPH setup, thats why i want the same bearings.
