so would u hit the brakes, use the cable to bring up the throttle, dump the brake and then stand on the throttle pedal???

    12.8 what

    and what mph and 60'
    JZX83+ FMIC+ Twin 2.5" dumps to 3"+ FCD+ 2800rpm stallie+ 14psi - LSD - good tyres = 12.85 @105.58

yea thats how i do it.

only did 4 passed and one of those had a blown sequential turbo line so it didnt really count.

it was a 12.88 the slips are in my rides thread.

all mph was at speed cut for all 3 runs and 60' was pretty shit i think i managed to get it down to a 2.2 something (from the usual 2.6)

i cant see much going wrong with the hand throttle, especially something that would stick the throttle wide open. at best the cable will break and close the throttle and the shape of the dash helps guide the handle back in if i let it go instead of guiding it back by hand.

they key is good enuogh for a kill switch and i will have plenty of time to use it if i stick to using the hand throttle on the drag strip ONLY!!

not much point using it on the street as tyre pressures will be higher and i wouldnt get any stall or grip at all.

also i noticed it was really hard to rev past 2000rpm without the wheels spinning, and last time it felt pretty solid, the only things i changed were ther rear pads form ebc blackstuffs to the bendix std pads.

this was the same in ttc or sequential; tyre spin at 2k rpm really frustrating.

A key is not good enough as a kill switch as it takes too long to find and too long to rotate to switch it off. From start to finish an accident takes about 0.2 seconds. You need a kill switch in a position that you can thump as fast as you can.

Also, I think some early four wheel drives had hand throttles with a button that can drop them out.

fwitw it might be worth looking at the hand throttle assemblies on discos/cruisers slightly different application as these are used to keep the throttle at a given position for steep climbs/decents where youre just moving around too much to keep the foot throttle steady but they might be worth looking at in terms of the failsafe/linkages they use.

edit: argh danm slow posting... yes alot of 4wd's use ahand throttle would be a good spot to look

oh thanks ben i was wondering what it was for.

also i cant see anyway this can possible fail and lock the throttle open.

it woudl be like the accelerator pedal failing and holding the throttle open or cruise control cable/actuator doing the same thing and we have no killl switch for them?
