I think the non-P/S+non-aircon AE82 Twincam models only had a single-row pulley (both were options, but most cars have one or the other, or both)
Does the 4age variants come out with a single row crank pulley. I only run the water pump and alt. No need for the front one and its fouling on my radiator thermo fan.
Can i get the front removed and not effect the balancing of it?
I dont want to use 4ac stuff.
Thanks,
Adam

Yeah, i machined mine off, worked, and works fine. If you are squeamish about this then:

The non-PS/AC models still had the twin rib pulleys.

I just put mine in the lathe and turned one half off! I'm just running the alternator on mine because I'm using a EWP.

So they had a whole row just hanging out there in the breeze doing nothing? Although air-con and that was usually a dealer-fit option, so it might be like that so that all cars come from factory with the same pulleyOriginally Posted by takai
I know the tensioner is different (gets swapped at the dealership) depending on if you have p/s only, or air-con + p/s (because the belt-path is different)

Yeah, from what i have found from various dealers was that the PS and AC were dealer fitted but they all came with the same pulley to ease fitment.

Makes it annoying trying to track down a P/S non-aircon tensioner pulley though, as most people optioned air-con...Originally Posted by takai

Yah, i had one from my AE92 which was non-aircon optioned. Interest in that when i sold the engine ancillaries was enormous.

Cost... astronomical ($500 US dollars) but it is alum... it is fitted with an elastomer damper, it is single row.........
Information is POWER... learn the facts!!
That one there would probably still foul on the fan though.
I'd just take the front off with a lathe as the others have suggested.

I just ran a hacksaw through the gap, the pulleys hold the blade straight and it cuts cleanly.
