a lot of car parts have 3 letter model numbers I cannot search for, like an s13 or t04
is it possible this can be changed or is there a way I can override the must be more than 3 letter word search?
thanks in advance,

Use a wildcard at the end or beginning of the word your looking for.
i.e. t04*

is the reason to stop hackers or something?

No it's a performance issue. The server has to index all of the searchable material and allowing tiny words 2 and 3 letters long to be indexed creates a massive performance hit for the server.Originally Posted by brett_celicacoupe
Most of the common Toyota 3 letter abreviations have been added to the index already though, as discussed in these two previous threads that I found with the search in a few seconds

you could also chain two words together like instead of 4ag put in "4ag engine"
unfortunatly if you put t04 turbo it will omit t04 and just find post's with turbo.
4ag might be one of the few codes indexed by the server.
I take offence at that. These are the things I manually added to being indexed "4ag 2t 3t 4t 2m 4m 5m 6m 7m 1s 2s 3s 10r 18r 22r 1jz 2jz 1uz 2uz 3uz 1zz 2zz 1nz 2nz 3e 4e 5e 1gg 1gf 1gz 3k 2k 5k k40 k50 t40 t50 w40 w50 w55 w57 w58 FAQ bov I/C ecu 13" 14" 15" 16" 17" 18" 19" 20" tio map maf afm tps 2tg 3tc mr2 pcd agm".Originally Posted by Marvin.The.Robot
It's obvious that you can't even take any advice as you were told that if you search in quotes such as "4ag t04" it will look for all of it but you say it will only find 4AG stuff. If you search for t04* as suggested to add a wild card you'd find 350 odd posts that talk about T04's.
Generally I would have just gone and added t04 to the index, although I don't see a lot of point to it since it's old technology and hardly worth researhing, but if someone refuses to help themselves I see no point in me spoon feeding them.
This is an improvement, but unfortunately searching for "3s" will not show up the threads/posts with "3s-gte", "3s-ge", "3sgte", etc... I would love to search for "3s*" (ie. in the Classifieds), but this hits the 4 letter minimum as it is not indexed...Originally Posted by Joshstix
(Same with "gt*" for searching for any GT series turbo info or classified)
