    Default Custom Switches??

Anyone stumbled across a supplier of custom or speciality switches? I'd very much love to find a set of toggle switches that look a little better then the typical straight bar toggle switches... and I've found only 1 mob that sell flat toggle switches, but they're not much different. Would really like to find someone who makes switches like those in the new
GT40, or the old Jags... but i haven't found anything useful so far...

This is the kinda thing i'm looking for:

not those exactly... but something good looking...

thanks to OC for the uber hi-res image...

if you find something oem you like you may be able to buy them as a part from the dealership's spare parts area

chances are they are just normal switches with fancy covers... could make something without too much fuss perhaps?

    Hi,

I am also after some custom switches. The type of switches I am after are small, tiny and discreet ones, as I want to use for a kill switch.

    Thanks.

yeah would suck if someone stole your car and drifted it into a gutter or something
anyway, why not use a magnetic switch under the carpet and add the magnet for it to your keyring? jump in the car, wave the magnet in the right place then insert key and turn

Or put the reed switch near the ignition barrel, so the magnet is there when you insert the key.
    No magnet, no hotwire.

yeah, the reed switch idea is a good one...

OC - i've been thinking about making some kinda cover, but i just can't fathom how to make something that small... of course, i couldn't just make one either, so what ever i do it'd have to be able to make several... i had considered making the whole toggle 'bat' but the switches appear to be 'crimp' sealed rather then glued, screwed or anything like that... so you run the risk of breaking the crimp tabs when you do it...

    ideas or suggestions welcome...

Your pic didn't show up on my PC, but have you tried the RS or Farnell catalogue?

Yeah, magnet is an excellent idea - can you guarantee your keys will never touch your wallet?
Transponder keys are great until you don't have one

Your switch pic didn't come up, so I have no idea what you're after.
Personally toggle switches are not attractive - I prefer rocker switches (unless that's what you mean by flat toggle).
It depends what switch you want. Narva supply a range of rocker switches in various configurations, various sizes, with or without indicator leds, some with symbols on them. Have a look at www.narva.com.au - you might find something off the shelf.
Jaycar also has a range but not as good as narva.

If you want something with custom labels then you can get switches with tiny LCD panels on them but they need micros and are expensive.
There are also illuminated pushbutton switches with removable lenses and diffusers so you can print out and install a custom illuminated label.

After having played with ideas of making my own backlit switches with custom labels I now just pick something that I like from another car...

Can you just post the words of the link?
Nothing comes up for me, and even when I go to edit your post the link is non-existent?! No idea what's going on....

Jag wreckers, most people that get into older jags end up like toyota people end up with a few extas for parts. There were a couple of jag wreckers around when I had mine even got some new rivet on clips for the chrome strips through them.
