    Default F series diff measurement.

could someone please take a measurement for me? im after the length of a F series diff center, from the flange face to the mounting point of the axle housing. should be able to easily do it with the center in or out of the diff housing.
    sorry if this isnt clear.

The F series diffs come in a range of different sizes even Live axle and IRS depending on the vehicle it was fitted to so you will need to spend a day at the wreckers with a tape measure.

    EVOSTi,

Is this in relation to finding out weather you need to change the rear section of the Tail shaft in an AE86?

damn i thought all the centres would be the same dimensions.
the reason i asked is i am going to be putting in daves old E series into my sprinter for the time being and will have to shorten the tailshaft, but if i would have to modify it again when putting in an F series later on i might just wait till then and do it at once.

    cheers, much appreciated.
yeah id like an MX23 F series, but thought daves old one would do for the time being. my tailshaft is a single piece from a cressida modded to match my W59 and stock S series
hopefully i wont have a hard time finding and MX23 F series

havent even picked it up yet cause im lazy hehe. afaik it should ALMOST bolt up, i have an adjustable panhard rod lined up already, has no swaybar mounts, but the housing is a little too wide for the celica so should be a close fit for the sprinter. but i think the trailing arms points might be slightly different.

You will need to shorten your tailshaft as the S series has a much "shorter" centre than than an F series live axel set up.

I won't have time tonight but could measure an MS122 F series for you which should be the same. Worst Case I can do it this weekend.

yeah i know i have to shorten the tailshaft going from an S to E series, i mainly want to know if i would have to shorten it again going from E to F cause id rather only spend the money shortening the shaft once. im hoping i wont have to cause if the MX23 had both an E and F series then MAYBE they used the same tailshaft and were the same length.

The F series Diff's I have at home are 220mm from mount face to mount face.

Need to measure my T series as well. The width should be with in 5mm of the sprinter diff.

Hope this helps and is good news

    cool thread.

funnny seeing as my F series diff is about ready to go in. i got ST141 disks and MA61 LSD centre.

so what are the options? posibly use the rear half of one of the following
MX13 single piece (no good - too long)
    MA61?
    RT142?
    RA6x?
    MX62?

hmmm. time to take the tape measure the wreckers i think

lambolica, that is great news as that is what i measured for the E series.
so unless for some reason the F series housing locates the center further towards the front of the car, which is highly unlikely, i can get away with shortening the tailshaft once

Evo.... I highly doubt that it would as the diffs in question all Came out of the Same car.

Anthony was just unlucky to get an E series instead of an F series.

If you want some other measurments to confim this I can get them easily.

To clarify the question you should have been asking....
You want to know what the length of a live axle F series diff centre is from yoke face to diff housing mounting face

I was confused reading your post initially.
    ...... butt scratcher?!
