Default Air Fuel Ratio Program For PC

    Hey fellas,
is there a program for a PC that cn read an oxygen sensor? I would like to know if theres a standalone program eg without the need of a dyno read or a air/fuel meter.
    Thanx,
    Adam

to do what?, any aftermarket ecu can read it and display it on a laptop, not that this will help you, you can buy kits that display it if you have a decent o2 sensor, why do you want to read the air/fuel ratios unless you have a aftermarket ecu to tune the ecu to the desired a/f, otherwise knowing the a/f is more or less useless

serial plug doubtful, diy kit or even bought kit maybe most of those kits only display it in led segments like the autometer a/f guage which is pretty much useless also

can i ask why you want to read the a/f's

Its just that my brother has installed nitros oxide onto his car and would like to tune it without the need of a dyno run(very expensive) and/or and aftermarket ECU. Hes a fully qual mech so its not like hes not sure on what hes talking bout.

how are you suposed to tune air fuel ratios WITH NITROUS without an aftermarket ecu, a flash drive would do it, but i wouldnt touch nitrous with a std ecu, how does he plan on changing a/f, etc etc etc without an aftermarket ecu

he said with diff jet sizes for the nitros and diff injector sizes thats why he would like to read it.

well that is not going to be accurate, thats one way to break an engine, doing things the cheap way is not always the best and results in engine failure and will end up costing more money

    but good luck

the main issue is that normal oxygen sensors are narrow band.. this means that they switch from high voltage to low voltage at the stoichiometric AFR (14.7:1). they are no good for telling you how rich or lean.. just rich or lean... for power you want slightly rich, and a narrow band cannot tell you.

to read the sensor, just get a multimeter.
the switching point is approximately 0.5V
some ppl use it to tune their power, using a given voltage (maybe 0.7? 0.8? 0.9?) but it is not good enough, especially with NOS.

you would need a wideband sensor and it's controller hardware..

best thing would be to hire a dyno and use their wideband for a few hours.. miught save the cost of a motor..

    oh.. and start rich

Or you can get a kit from www.wbo2.com. For about $500. This can be used indefinitely. I have one and I am very happy with it.
