Default Fuel cut more likely on hotter days?

    Hi,

Running 14 PSI on my 1g-gte, never hit fuel cut but one day which was relatively warm after taking off it just bogged down. Code 34 so I believe it's fuel cut.

I've ran 18 PSI Since and never had fuel cut, back to 14 psi now. Today on a 37 deg day hit fuel cut again. Just wondering if it's more likely to hit fuel cut on hotter days as seems to be happening to me, usually when cars fully warmed up it will never hit cut but when engine is cold it does.

I'd think it would be less likely to hit cut on hotter days and more likely on colder days since air is denser.

    Thanks.

That's my experience too - I'm using a manual boost controller, set it on a fairly cold night. Warmer nights I get a bit less boost, when it's really cold I can overboost and hit the fuel cut.

Not sure what yours would be sorry :/

Edit: Unless it's retarding timing or something because of intake temps? Wouldn't expect it to be so noticable though.

How dramatically is it cutting out?

Hot air isn't as dense as cold air, so it essentially takes up more physical space. The poor old turbo is pumping thin air, so it has to pump more thin air per revolution to make as much boost if the inter cooler set up is efficient . Mix that with a trap door style AFM and the door will be at maximum sucking in less oxygen to burn. Less oxygen = less kaboom = slower turbine speeds = less boost.

Ah so basically your saying that when it's hotter the door trap is more likely to max itself out causing the ECU to engage fuel cut?

To test Beerheads theory, I'd sujest that you somehow log the airflow meters output on a day when you aren't suffering problems and again on days when you are.

    What is fault code 34?

Code 34 is "Abnormal Turbocharger Pressure", so fuel cut.
