You should be able to adjust the thread on the switch to move it in and out (ie: setting the point where it turns on/off). Try playing with that first.
Hey,
Went to my corolla the other day and the battery was dead.I knew that my lights were off for sure so thought must be something else draining the power. The RACQ guy came out to charge me up and said that these model corollas had a problem of the switch that turns the brake lights on at the brake pedal gets stuck.Just wondering if any one else has had this problem and is there a quick fix to lube the switch or something.
Cheers Pete

install a return spring just like in the TA22's.

Thanks guys. Will have a look this weekend and maybe some fine adjustments are all that is necessary.
I've had the plastic bumper that clips into the brake pedal lever on the ae92 shatter on two of our cars. On the ae92 the plastic bumper is what presses against the switch so when the bumper breaks away the switch can't be actuated. Usually simple fix of clipping in a new bumper.
What model Corolla is it? My g/f's AE82 occasionally leaves the brake lights on too (it's flattened the battery at least once), most likely the brake light switch getting stuck. Usually giving the brake pedal a bit of a wiggle/tap just before you get out of the car does the trick, and always remember to check the lights as you walk away, that way you should never have to come back and find a dead car.
Failing that, maybe some WD40 on the switch will stop it sticking.

My KE38 did this so I readjusted the switch and fitted a return spring on the pedal.
Problem solved.
As noted though new swtiches are cheap i.e. less than $10 if it does need replacing.
