    Default NA - T Conversions - A few questions

    Hey guys,

well knowing my engine will finally turn up i have gotten the bug to continue researching this. I have a mx83, currently has a healthy 7mge with a properly fixed headgasket in it, has very low k's and is in great condition generally.

What i was planning to do was do full 7mgte conversion but i found out im only going to have this car for just under a year (im going to the slightly dark side (mitsubishi)) so i am going to do just a bolt on 7mge + t conversion (which was the original plan *sigh*)

Most of its fairly straight forward, get some cooler piping made up, bolt the exhaust manifold and turbo on, add some more piping, rising rate fuel presure reg away you go

now that wont last too long, even i can work that out. So the first thing i need to know is, which aftermarket management should i go for, would a piggyback suffice? Any suggestions

Im sure ill find a few more things as i think harder about it
I was thinking something like an emanage + retard the timing a bit and get it tuned properly.

If you're going to bother doing this, why not just fix a BHG 7mgte? People pretty much throw them out...Probably cheaper if you can do the work yourself.

It has been said that you need to be really careful/smart doing this kind of conversion as if you dont plan it properly that it will cost a bucketload more than doing a proper 7M-GTE conversion. Here is a link that i found really useful and outlines much of the pitfalls, pros/cons of doing it various ways - http://www.supramania.com/forums/showthread.php?t=34560

It deals with a US *A70 Supra which assumes a few things (like factory intercooler piping will bolt on and similarities in looms, making things cheaper) but it also goes through the different options including full 7M-GTE swap and turboing the 7M-GE with either GTE or GE electronics.

Also, talk to Jin~Jah as his started out as a 7M-GTE which blew and used a 7M-GE long motor to replace it.

    Why going mitsubishi?
