    Default Boost Control- HELP

    hey guys ....

just got my 1JZ MX83 conversion finished.

running a large single turbo with KKR 55mm external gate.
car goes mental when boost arrives but hits fuel cut.
it has the 16 psi spring. is this its minimum? i have the one line running off the side of the gate to manifold pressure.
it has the bleed nipple on top to doing nothing and the adjustment screw and nut. which i havent touched.
can i control the boost to keep it under fuel/boostcut on the stock JZZ30 ecu?
and how to i do this? i have a good manual bleed valve but no idea how to set it up with the external gate. all the diagrams ive found dont make much sense and refer to a bleed nipple on the turbo ... my Trust TD07 doesnt have one.
im going aftermarket ecu shortly but id like to drive the car on say 13 psi for a bit.

any help would be awesome guys ... i wanna see what it really goes like with out head butting the steering wheel lol.
here is the gate i have ... just 5mm bigger

    cheer

If it has a 16psi spring then no 13psi for you! FCD and you will have your fun up to around 18psi, but check it on a dyno to be sure.

No simple mod you need a FCD....
You can make your own or buy hks or the like

But really you have come so far to fuck it up now, get off your ass and get your ECU sorted and then you can stop being a girly man and playing with anything under 20psi

    hahaha doofy.
ive got the ecu ready to go in but i have to drive the car off this god dam island called tassie for the tune.
Just emailed KKR dealer to get an 8psi spring, that way i can control it till i get to melbourne in a month or so's time.

god its mental right now though .... really goes well. and yes im going abit over 20 psi with the tune...... say 24 lol

    cheers doofy!

8psi spring should do it matched with some playing with your bleed valve.

As for FCD, google is your friend, try diy fcd...

if your after a quick dodgy fix, a bleed valve on the map sensor will work. same principle as a FCD. but try and get it tuned ASAP

What you want is a different spring. Ideally you want the wastegate set at the lowest boost you want to run, and then use an EBC to control boost over that. EBCs are cheap these days.

All a boost controller does is intercept the vacuum line going to the wastegate, so that it 'sees' less than is actually at the compressor.

Wonder if those KKR gates are any good?

Also, more boost isn't always better if you're having to retard the timing to do so... read recenlty that in some cases less boost and more timing = more power.
