yes it can be done, theres one on ebay for sale right now.
save time + money and buy that one.
I have heard that it is possible to put a 1g into a ta22, but the handling of the car goes down the drain because it becomes to nose heavy. Anyone have some input/clarification on this?

I've got a 1g-gze in a Corona RT132 (1980) and it handles fine for general street/ highway use.Originally Posted by Mick10010
The engine bay, crossmember, steering, struts etc, are virtually the same as the RA23's.
Not sure about the TA's though.
I did fit power steering from a Cressida (bolt straight in) and the steering is great!
Handles better and is lighter and more responsive than both the wifes Camry and my Hilux.

Buy the one on ebay. You couldn't buy all the ingredients for that price..... Sell your 22 to recover cost. Easy.

they said the same thing about the 1jz in the 28's, but they are having no issues handling great....you will need to spend some money on sway bars and springs/struts but with the right love you shouldnt have many issues at all....especially if it is just for street use.

Guess i probably will buy the ta so long as someone doesnt flog it off on ebay before i get someone to look at it for me (im in darwin). Cheers for the help guys, +rep all round. Gotta love this forum hehe
TA22's are shorter than RA23/28's so yes handling will suffer, the engine will be hanging way past the axle line (unless there are firewall mods, which I doubt). But TA22's had pretty ordinary handling to begin with, so if this bothers you maybe you'd be better off looking at an RA23. Toyota revised the front end for a reason...
