18r Accelerator link problems

Hey guys

Recently put an 18r back into my RA23 from a 77 corona, got a accelerator link from a ra28 the cable isnt going the right way. I was told that it should be pullin towards drivers side but it needs to be pushed for the carby to open up is the carby different or is the cable set up wrong?

i can try to help

i know in my ta23 as i push the throttle it pulls the cable towards me, so ur cable sounds ok
& in ra23 i think the cable goes over the engine to the carby
so id say mabye the carby is different or not setup right
