Strad, I mean genuine parts, like for when im looking for the bearing to suit a handbrake eccentric for a rear caliper of a 93+SW20T
I used to use Mark (rinmax) but hes moved into another job which nolonger has him working in toyota parts
You can download a copy of the Toyota EPC then look stuff up yourself and just walk in with a part number. They'll like you for that because it makes things easy for them, and you can also make sure yourself that you're getting the right thing.
I want to do your engine conversion wiring for you, PM me.
Ahh i never knew that the EPC was available.. gotta love torrents
I've been burnt at the one on Springvale road, near the Monash freeway, the guy wasn't helpful at all, kept going on about the vin number, I just wanted a set of pads for a Celica st162, is it that hard to look it up?
Keysborough were fairly helpful, I've been there a few times and just asked for parts off certain cars and they've been able to sort something out for me.
Nudawading also gets the thumbs up.
The spanner in my avatar is actually a 16mm, that's why it's still new
Yeah i have teh EPC on it way down now i will just look up the numbers call and ask directly for them..
Just gotta make sure they press the cheap button not the expensive one, i will just get it sent to work that normaly ends in atleast a std trade price.
Sorry Merc-Blue, but it was time for me to move on.
Anyway, I will recommend the guys at Nudawading. Top guys there and they usually dont mind going the extra distance to look strange stuff up.
For the VIN thing, as with the parts people needing one, well it's quite simple, some of the EPC's do requie a VIN to be 100% accurate. But they can also be used without a VIN, just that it takes much longer and there could be a mistake. Thats why at some places they demand a VIN, either they dont want someone bringing parts back and being a pain in the butt, or they simply cant be bothered because they are busy. Then of course they could just be shit at their job and have no idea how to by the need for a VIN.
In short if they know what they are doing and want your business, then they shouldn't need a VIN.

Avoid Melbourne City Toyota like the plague. Anything not on the EPC or import they are totally uninterested. or don't know how to do it.
Cannon Toyota in Camberwell have been good sourcing parts from Japan for my AE86 which were not yet on the computer in Sydney, thus requiring a bit of effort by them to chase up and get put on the Australian system.
And recently a KE25 dashpad which initially the guy said wasn't available.
Essentially, i went in well prepared with part numbers for what I wanted, which even if superceded gives them something to work on, and VIN plates. I have a Jap GTV AE86 plate.
Once they realised I had made an effort to give them what they needed, and I wasn't going to arse them about, they were great.
Oh for the good old days when Andy Porter was on the scene. Anyone know where he is?
Camberwell toyota seem allright, ive had no trouble with them..dont kno about trade prices though never asked fro it.
Parrot: you beat me to it...only by milli seconds.
