i know the light is connected to the handbrake, but is it connected to anything else?
i.e. is it indicating there is a problem with something else or is the switch faulty?
cheers

i agree with mr2gze, in some jdm cars its also used for the low brake fluid light.

Should the handbrake light come on if you're starting with the handbrake light? 'cause mine shows no sign of anything if I go to take off with the handbrake on
Possibly disconnected?
handbrake light should stay on until the handbrake is off
unless you have my problem where the low fluid makes the light stay on
i'd check the switch
you got a foot brake that goes where the clutch pedal should be right?
if you do the switch is above the pedal
cheers
My dash doesn't seem to even have a handbrake light in the cluster. I've got one on my soarer, I assume it looks the same, but there's just all the engine warning lights, and then it moves onto TEMS lights. I don't have the handbrake instead of the clutch pedal setup, mine's a manual so I've got the proper handbrake setup. It's no biggie, just I'm wondering who's stolen my handbrake light![]()
Is it a genuine manual (indicated by the W58 on the trans part of the build plate) or a converted one as with the latter they may have forgot to hook up the switch/minor differences in wiring to prevent it coming on.Originally Posted by hecate

And yet, still no thread or pics!Originally Posted by hecate
Might be worthwhile to get handy with a multimeter and see if there is a break in the wire/switch is working correctly - and dont forget the brake fluid part too. Aftermarket stereo installed? not sure if the loom goes this way but an idea since the wires would have needed playing with.
Haha, I'll get a thread up as soon as I have anything worth posting about.
It's still pretty well stock, and at this stage, not going anywhere.
And the donk's not in great condition, so I'm more concerned with finding somewhere to take it to have a look at it, than putting anything cool on it. It'll probably end up with a 1JZ conversion soonish, as it sounds pretty sick atm. (conversion will get *started* soonish is what I mean, how long it takes depends on how shit I am at mechanical stuff)
Brake fluids all good, and while I have pulled apart the dash to remove the 105kph chime and have done a pretty thorough stereo install, it was pretty stock when I bought it, and I've never seen the handbrake light.
this is now happening to my GX81 !
for an update my brake fluid is full , but it happens when going around a corner at highspeed (beforet the car starts to lose grip and drift) and when flooring it = full boost 3rd gear (auto) (in a controlled environment of corse)
Will update with my findings
supra used to do this quite often, ended up having to bleed the ring out of my brake fluid.
that said, the ABS had its own dedicated light if anything went wrong (which it didnt)
