big air leak on intake side.
given that it's over-fuelling, maybe the vacuum reference line to the fuel pressure regulator has come off.
ok guys got a problem. just started up the supra then (GA70) and went for a drive, it was idling at 3000rpm the whole time, usually it starts at 2000-2500 and as it warms up drops back to normal but this just stayed constant over 15-20 minutes, and everytime i went to hit boost it would go nowhere and just pop flames(mate was in car behind). Its running stock boost(8psi) but is tuned for 12psi which i inially thought might be the problem but i drove it round fine the other day on 8psi (45 minute drive). any help would be very very appreciated

also, check your ignition timing. could be way advanced or tarded which can create some interesting fireworks
GA23(never finished-now with cracked block) JZX83 (Tyre eater) 3sgte AE86. by now i should know better.
popped a cooler pipe maybe? check for any air leaks.

if you're idling at 3000, you've most likely got an air leak. would lead to overfuelling, and hence throwing flames. check the usual suspects - popped vacuum hose/intercooler pipe, worn vac hose, etc
sounds like an intercooler pipe!![]()

from experience, if an intercooler pipe pops off, or you have a major air leak as said above, the engine will not even run at all due to being a 1GGTE with an AFM
the engine should die pretty much as soon as u start it...
tried re-setting the ECU ? (leaving batt unplugged for 10 - 15 mins)
Check tps, as it may not be working properly. Check fuel pressure, might have crook fuel pump, air leaks vacuum hoses etc, air flow meter flap may be stuck or jamming, umm thats about it. And see how you go from there.
not a cooler pipe cos ive had that before and as coff33 has said it just wont run at all
reset the ecu, nothing
cant find any air leaks, or any pipes not connected
how do i check tps and fuel pressure?

plug up the aux-air valve inlet pipe and see if it continues to idle high?
Yes i would do this first, and if still idle high check tps and fuel pressure you need the right equipment for testing wires to tps and the fuel pressure will take an hour or so with tools that you prob dont have, so garage or friend would be best option in that case to get that done.Originally Posted by thechuckster

if you're going to pay someone $50/hr to solve the problem, i'd suggest you provide a list of the tests suggested above - otherwise you'll be forking out cash for work already done.
changed the plugs and it magically fixed itself???
im confused but hey just glad its going.
new owner loves it.
cheers for the help guys
