What kind of tyre to strut clearance is it possible to get away with?

I've gone as close as 4mm with no rubbing.

I had no idea it was this close, the only rubbing i get is the occasional bit in the arch (ie, outside) when loaded right up.

anyone have some 18" rims spare? (yes, I'm leaving it to the last minute).

tonight it'll be sparks, oil, coolant change, linden to fit surge tank, pump, etc (I hope), and fingers crossed it's all ready for tomorrow night!

On the plus side I purchased new helmet, balaclava, and gloves... and sat in a Sprint V and nearly spent a whole lot more money

Oh yeah, thanks for the reminder, you're coming down thursday aren't you? We'll all meet up around 7:30 near liverpool(?), the brooks rd servo, just after the m7 joins the m5/hume. I'll give better details later, but for now can i just get an idea who'll be meeting and if the time suits?

Haha that's right. Ok, i'll update the first post with people staying what nights - if you're coming can you please check i have you on the list, we're a bit short of expected numbers so any extras are very welcome!

We need min 10 to get the bunkhouse, otherwise we end up in the cabins and it's more expensive per person (~$10?) We should be right for thursday, but at the moment it looks like we're short for friday.

Thanks for the info bout the clearance. Going to tyre shop tomorrow morn to get track tyres fitted to rims & to get some spacers. Hopefully 5mm will be enough...

Should be, thing that helps is that when you're loaded so the tyre is deformed towards the strut, it's the inside wheel, so less load and less deflection than when cornering the other way (or looking at the other strut).
