get some pics of the wiring man, i got a vpc and gcc and evc, mate two streets away has vpc and gcc.
Also check ALL the resistors in the vpc, my friends one started for 5 seconds like yours then cut out, found out resistors were blown.
To start off HI, this is my first post sorry its along one
I hope someone can help me as over here in the uk no one has even heard of tuning a 1g
with hks gear.Its all bin the ecu and start from scratch.
The problem is I have a vpc fcon setup which doesnt work the fcon gcc work ok but when i add the vpc it all goes west.
What happens is it will start but then cuts after 5seconds or so
Now its a hks loom which is all plug and play but it leaves me with two wires of the nine pin connector of the vpc
One has a washer connector so it must be an earth
The other has a male bullet connector and i dont have a clue where its meant to go,the cable is green from the nine pin but its grey on the vpc side of the nine pin.
I hope someone can help i have asked this question so many times all around the world and noone has a clue or cant be bothered to tell me!!
Any info would be good but please dont say go look online a instalation manuals as its no good unless someone has the suplamentary part for the 1g-gte
I also wouldnt mind knowing what each of the wires on the nine pin is meant to do as it may help if the vpc is at fault
If it makes any difference its a 1991 jap import 2.0 1g-gte auto standard injectors with a single t4 garret+nos upgrades the chips in the vpc and fcon are 1g,s

All the info below is assuming you have the loom and no hacked off vpc plugs.
Orginal AFM turns on fuel pump so Green(with bullet connector) wire from VPC goes to AFM plug to turn on fuel pump, Brown wire goes to FCON, the black wire with the washer connector goes to ground. if possible try the VPC on its own NO FCON AND GCC, like ryan said check for burnt componants.
temporary fuel pump turn on is to bridge +b and FP in diagnostics. also once you get it running try and tap into the fuel pump wire from the loom behind the dash its the green wire..makes the install neater......

never considered the pump being turned on by the afm,
